Being one of the oldest in the world going back to 5000 years to the indus valley civilization . People of that origin used homespun cotton or khadi for weaving their fabrics and indigo to add colour , skills like spinning , dying , weaving and embroidery were learnt over time to create fabrics which made them famous worldwide . Some famous Indian fabrics include Dhaka’s fine muslin, luxurious Banarasi brocades, exquisite jamdani weaves, and richly colored ikats.
From vedic eras to the mughals clothing was not a necessity but a symbol of status, art and commerce . Indian textile was demanded all around the globe including Rome, Egypt, China. Even after colonial exploitation, which weakened handloom traditions, India’s regional crafts survived. Today, they continue to blend heritage with modern design, making Indian textiles a vibrant testament to craft, culture, and beauty.
